 Who Are We?

We are an organization of Catholic men and women of all ages. Lay members from all walks of life who have taken their name from Blessed Father Junípero Serra, a Franciscan Missionary Priest who established many Missions in California in the late 1700's through his Evangelization. There are 670 Serra clubs with more than 23,000 Serra members in 35 countries.

What Are Our Objectives?

To foster and promote priesthood and religious vocations in the Catholic Church by working together, and praying together. As Serrans work together and get to know each other, membership is rewarded with educational and personal spiritual growth in the knowledge of Catholicism.

What is the Church Vocation Need?

Our Church needs strong leadership. Laypersons must help call forth priests, sisters, brothers, permanent deacons, and lay ministers. It is equally important to affirm those who already serve the Church so that they will continue to find in their vocation a fulfilling way of life. We do so by recognizing our Priests and Religious on their Birthdays and Anniversaries of their ordination or profession.

What Do We Do For Vocations?

Prayer Pledge Card Program - Daily prayer for Church vocations.

Thirty One Clubs - We encourage Catholics to choose one day of the month to attend Mass and offer it for vocations.

Prayer Cards for Shut-Ins - We encourage Shut-Ins to join Serrans to pray for Church vocations.

Parish Bulletin Inserts - To promote vocation awareness and plant the seed for those who might have a religious vocation.

School Vocation Presentations - Serrans arrange to present a video, witness talks by a priest or nun followed by a question and answer period.

Altar Server Program - A certificate program of appreciation for service to the parish community.

Priest Appreciation Night - An evening set aside to honor our priests and religious for their dedicated service to the Catholic Community.

What About Meetings?

Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month at the St. Francis Center for Renewal (Monocacy Manor), Bridle Path Road, Bethlehem, PA. The meetings begin with Mass at 6:30 P.M. followed by dinner or light refreshments. Meetings consist of a few announcements followed by a timely speaker. The Board of Trustees meets once a month to handle the business of the club.

As with any good organization, members have a minimal financial responsibility.
